An update

Well....As you can see, I have posted in a couple of days. In the past couple of days Kevin has returned from ATL. Athen turned 31 months old, I have had some sort of virus, and today Grandma Becky had her appointment at Shand's today. She will have to under go brain surgery with in the next 2 weeks. They won't know until then if it's cancer or not.
As I am still not feeling well, I will post more later...

Brace yourself....

Yep, that is a human back. Its not a fake, this was a real person, who had a real head, legs, arms.... so on a so forth. All in the name of science.

Kev's Job

So.... here is a little more on Kevin's job. Today he leaves for ATL, he will be at the Ga Tech *cringe* Conference Center. At 8am on Thursday he will start to work. They will be there for a new company to demonstrate their product... let me see if I can explain. The new product is where they are "re-building" vertebrae. They inject them into the spine. One would think, on live people? Nope. He will be working on cadavers (dead bodies). He's part is to do the imagining so that the people at the conference can see the new product at work. Make sense? Aside for the dead people part, it all sounds pretty interesting. He will be doing that Thursday, Friday and Saturday and be home *fingers crossed* later Saturday night.
This is not what he does on a daily bases though, he does "regular" stuff. Like in Savannah he went to a doctors office where they were inserting electrical leads that control the bladder, he did the imaging so the doctor could see what he was doing...
Kevin seems to be enjoying it. I will enjoy is LOTS more come next Thursday ((pay day!!))

No more news on Becky, her appointment in Gainesville is next Tuesday, until then we just wait....

An Update

First, Grandma Becky - change of plans. She talked to her doctor here yesterday, she's now being referred down to Shand's. She has an appointment on Tuesday the 30th. I am not sure of the time yet. Please keep praying for her and that she will get good news at her appointment.

Next, Athen - He still has that nasty rash. It gets really bad when he gets hot, and if you know Athen, that's ALL the time. I am just hoping it will go away soon, he looks terrible.

Finally, Kevin - He got back from Savannah about 2 yesterday, is in Gainsville today and will be traveling to ALT tomorrow and be there until Saturday. That is for a conference though. So please keep Kevin in your prayers as he is traveling a lot. Boy, when God answers prayers, he REALLY answers them!

Happy Fathers Day

With all that has been going on this week, I almost forgot it was Fathers Day. We aren't real "big" into these type holidays around here, so me not really "remembering" isn't a big deal. However, I do want to give a shout out to my sugar doodles. Kevin is an amazing dad. He's everything I could want him to be and more. He's more than a "father" he is a dad. As they say... anyone can father a child, but it takes a real man to be a dad. Boo and I love you!

And being that Dad doesn't stop at 16, or 18, or 21.... Its a life long commitment, one that should not be taken lightly or one that should be entered into thinking that is has an expiration date.

Thank You Daddy for STILL being my Dad, not only to me but to Kevin as well. We love you!

And now for my money saving tip of the week (you aren't the only with them Amy =) )

If you child's face looks as though it has been sun burn and they have not been out in the sun, or if it looks as though it has been slapped and you don't recall doing so that day... Then the break out in a rash all over, don't be alarmed. Save your time and money, don't take them to youth care. Its only 5ths disease. (google it, its harmless). All of the above state happened to Athen - thus I know what I speak of. We went to Youth Care and litterly the doctor walked in looked at him and said "its 5ths disease nothing to do, nothing to be worried out. Have a nice day." That was IT! Now, if you know me, I am not one to hop in the car and take my child to the doctor for every little bump, bruise, or bit ((and if you know my child, you would know I would LIVE at the doctor's office if I were that parent)) But he looked pretty bad and it was getting worse by the hour.... but that's what it is. So, said all of that to say.... Don't' take them, make your check payable to me for 1/2 the amount and call it a day. =)

**Update**

Becky as been discharged from SGMC. She is to contact her doctor's office Monday morning so he can set up an appointment with a nero-surgeon in Thomasville. The tumor right now is about the size of a pecan. Its on her right front lobe of her brain. The plan is to have a consult with the doctor in Thomasville, and possibly a biopsy and go from there.

Athen and I were able to go and visit her this after noon since she is home from the hospital. ((cause SGMC will not allow ANYONE under the age of 12 to see ANY patient.... UGH!)) She seemed to be in good spirits but a bit tired. This has been a lot to take in, in a short amount of time. I have been able to visit with her every day since she first went to ER. For now I am going to give her time to be alone with Buddy, let them talk and processes all of this.

Thank you for your prayers, please keep them coming as this is devastating news to Becky as well as the whole family.

This time last week Kevin has just applied for a job, we were at family game night and getting ready for the family fish fry.


In a weeks time, Kevin has interviewed, gotten, and started work with his new job. In a weeks time Grandma Becky has been to the ER, admitted to the hospital, found out at some point she has had a stroke, and now has a brain tumor.

We are so very thankful for Kevin's job and the prayers on his behalf for them. Now, again, we come asking for prayers. Prayers for Grandma Becky (aka Becky Williams) Prayers that this tumor is nothing life threatening and can be treated (at this point, we don't know yet.) Prayers that she will be with her family for a long long long time. Prayers that she will once again gain the quality of life she had. Prayers for her family to be strong and the ability to cope with whatever comes their way. Prayers for Becky's husband, Grandpa Buddy.

Update

So here is a little more about Kevin new "Big Boy Job". Its with a company called Total Diagnostic Radiology Services. He starts training TOMORROW in Lake City. He will have to go through a training process and then he will hit the road. Please keep Kevin in your prayers as he will be doing a lot of traveling.

Kevin has training tomorrow in Lake City, then has to go to Jacksonville Saturday to pick up his own mobile unit truck, and in Savannah at 8am to start work.... WOW!!!!

Need a Loan???

.... cause you can ask Kevin for one!!!! He's is now rank among the employed!!!! Thank You for all your prayers. Please say a "thank you" prayer. Kevin is excited! He will be doing mobile xrays. He will be over a region from Jacksonville to ALT.... ((I'm not "happy" about that part)) but is a job and its a GOOD paying job. Praise the Lord!!

Family Fish Fry

Tonight we had a family fish fry cause there were some family in from out of town - Brent, Sharon, and Leiland and also Lisa and Ed (Kevin's Aunts and Uncles).
Anyhoo, after nap time we headed over so we could eat and fellowship with the fam. The boys had a good time being boys... I really didn't get too many pictures of them this time, I was too buys trying to keep Athen from taking "control" of every situation ;)

It was great to see the family, as always the visit was too short. Hurry Back!!!

I will end with a potty story, feel free to stop reading at the point....

This morning (sunday) while already running about 10 minutes behind, Athen announces he has to "toot toot"... being how at some point we are all going to have to get on board with this potty thing.... I guess you got to take them when they ask... anyhoo, off to the potty we go.... he sits on it.... Here is our converstion:

Me: You got to toot toot?

Athen: Nope, toot toot all gone.

Me: I thought you said you had to pottty...

Athen: Nope, toot toot lost. Wanna See???

A day in the life...

I thought I would try and document a day in the life of Athen.... eh, more so just a snippet of it =)

PLAY TIME! Athen found his Mickey ears and put them on and told me he was "Mouse" {look at those eyes, that my baby!}

Ninnie and Eric got this floatation device for Athen - its "floaties" but with the ability for them to A) not come off, and B) for your little one to be doing the work of swimming, while still keeping their head about water. I would recommend them. No worries when he has these on (see picture below)

Family Game Night

Most would think that family game night would be filled with board games and cards games.... No so much in my family. Wii (play on words there, did you catch it?) like the electronic ones! We had a great time! Lots of laughs, I would suggest it to any family... get a sitter for the kido's and have a fun fill family game night with the grown folks!

We played golf and bowling... Kevin and I took 3 out of the 4 games of bowling. Don't ask about golf, I still don't understand that crazy game!

Kevin has filled out yet another application. Its a Radiology Tech job (what he went to school for) PLEASE pray that he gets it, if its God's will. He REALLY REALLY REALLY needs a J-O-B.

Mom moment

I totally had a "mom moment" this morning....
Before I was PG and more so while, I would day dream about driving down the road and looking in the rear view mirror and seeing my child back there and having a conversation with them. Today my daydream became a reality. Although it was broken sentences and probably a conversation only a mother could understand, still I was refreshing. I heart him. He's sooooo funny theses days... If you ask him a question the will put his finger on his chin tapping it, and says "hmm, lets see...{long pause with his eyes looking up as to be looking in his brain for the answer}.... SURE!" He will also tell on you... Last night at dinner I was asking him about his day and the told me "Caroline said I stink" {referring to if he "toot tooted" today} He also told me that "Daddy said I can have cake" in which he was correct, his daddy did tell him that. He's so funny!!!

...cause that's what boys do....

Boy, did Athen have a fun filled weekend... Saturday He and his daddy went to breakfast together ((while I was home sick in bed with a head ache =( )) and then they went over to Aunt Ninnie and Uncle Eric's, played the Wii, then to Bill and Glenda's for dinner and pool time, and then more Wii.
Without being there, I am pretty confident in saying that Athen's favorite part was the brownie's Glenda made, cause when he got home he told me "Eric said no more brownie's"... Apparently he had managed to get to the pan and ate countless brownies... {Side note: ever notice how these things don't tend to happen on my watch, just saying.... =D }
Anyhoo, Then Sunday went to church of course, and then to Grammie and Papa's for lunch, after lunch the boy (the little ones) played outside in the dirt *cringe*, and the big boys played the Wii - note a pattern here??? Anyhoo, Here are some pictures of the boys playing in the dirt, cause that's what boys do....

Whats for dinner...

Many people many times tell me how BIG of a boy Athen is.... thus I thought I should "prove" why.... This is his dinner plate from last night... grits, eggs, sausage, and yogurt.... after he ate all this (I should have taken a picture of the "after" plate) he ate even more sausage... There go, Athen is a BIG boy cause he's a BIG eater... ((truth be told, he probably would have even even more if I would have let him...)) This is after he's already had a "snack" at day care and one at home before dinner... Yeppers, now you know why I say this child is going to eat me out of house and home... While I had my camera out, I wanted to get Athen saying is prayer on video...

"God, pray, food, AMEN" I think that's a pretty good start!

Wii-end

Saturday Kevin and I went fishing and then to Nikki and Eric's. They just got a Wii and so we thought we would try it out. So after I dominated in fishing, again. We set up the Wii and Kevin and I bowled, and I dominated in that too. So Nikki brings Athen over and we all head over to the pool at Bill and Glenda's where my child has NO fear of the water... NONE. He drank most of it as well ((which in turn upset his tummy so we had us a NICE mess on our hands when we went to town)) after pool fun we went to get something to eat and then back to the Smith's for some Wii fun. The video is of Kevin and Eric doing the Wii Fit and they are hula hooping... TOOOOO FUNNY!!! What's even more funny is that the board that you stand on what turned around the wrong way so we were going the wrong way!! Try hula hooping from left to right, its not so easy...We had us a grand ol' time!!

Special Prayer Request

I know in the past I have asked for prayers for Kevin a job, but today I am asking for Special prayers as a job that he's applied for closes today and its a really good job with the county. So please say a special prayer today that he gets an interview and the job. A steady pay check would be great!

27, time for our little bit of heaven

Well, another month has come and gone... Can someone just stop time for a bit so I can soak up this fun age for a bit longer, cause I know in a blink of an eye, it will be gone...
Here are some fun things about Athen at 30 months
Seems as though every word ends with a "t" - "moonT" "GoneT" so on and forth...

I think he may be a teacher, Athen loves to point at things and ask you the questions, he will turn his book around, just like a teacher does, and point and say "what's dat color momma?"

"what's letter? what it say?" ("say" meaning what sound does that letter make)

Athen is the BEST pouter - EVER!!! Oh my, you must see it in person to appreciate.

He is pretty good about asking for things, even if he knows he can't have it, he will ask before he tries to take it...

Is scared of fish, frogs, and pretty much anything that crawls... He likes snakes, till he sees one in person, then not so much...

May very well eat us out of house and home

Isn't very affectionate. He will give you a kiss or hug if you ask for it, but as far as just sitting in your lap or loving on you, not his cup of tea...

Athen is a V-E-R-Y active boy. Oddly enough, it doesn't really bother me all that much....

Out fished the Boys!

Yesterday Nikki, Eric, Kevin and I went out fishing. Since it was suppose to rain here, the boys got the bright idea of going off to go fishing so... at 5:30 in the morning (keep in mind this is my day OFF) I get up, get ready and we head to Bainbridge to Lake Seminal. Fished for maybe 30-45 minutes, looks like rain, head in eat lunch...clears up... fish for another 45 minutes more rain...Head home. So, its nice and sunny in good ol V-town so we hit Lake Alapaha... Where I fish with my trust ol' bream buster and cricks, really you just can't go wrong with that set up. That's how I caught my 1.1 lb blue gill (see picture) then the boys were tired of not catching any bass so they went to "their spot" and I couldn't really fish for bream and what not there. So I told them I wanted to try the bass thing. I really just more or less tried to entertain myself while they were fishing and low and behold - I caught me a bass AND it was the largest catch of the day (almost 2 lbs)! {Really, I think BOTH of mine were probably the biggest} Anyhoo, I have a wonderful time! The boys did too, although they didn't catch the biggest, I think they enjoyed seeing me catch my first "real" bass...

I didn't get any of the rest of the days catch - but you aren't missing much =D
