My Favorite!

Here is my favorite picture to date that Nikki has taken of my little man... I love it so good I had it printed into a 8x10, framed it and put it in the living room - all in the same day that she emailed it to me... Now most may think this isn't a huge feat - well then you don't know me very well... cause that would make the SECOND framed picture in the house of Athen...

Well Athen is all over the place now! He is walking really well. He is even saying a few words ( note: FEW) he can say "huh?" "papa" and "baby"... and that's about all for now...

Athen had a wonderful Christmas with ALL his family - He's a lucky little boy to have SO many people that love him.

Athen's newest thing is when he gets "mad" (99% of the time that is when he hears "no sir!") the wrinkles up his nose and huffs and puffs... its hard not to laugh at him. And if he is really mad with you he will put his hand up and holler - yeah, we will be breaking that real quick like!

Big Boy!

Well Athen is the ONE YEAR OLD!!!! He had a lot of firsts on his FIRST birthday... He ate his first cupcake, he walked a good bit for the first time, and he got his first hair cut! He's such a BIG BOY! He can do all kinds of things... Walking is latest and greatest accomplishment... he's very proud of himself!

Athen got a 4wheeler for his birthday. (Guess who's idea that was!) he also got a real UGA recliner from Grammie and Papa... I will post pictures of those later...

oh, AND his now has a totally of EIGHT teeth!

Tomorrow we go for our year health check - I will post the stats.

BAM-BAM

Athen was Bam-Bam for Halloween. Our family had our annul Halloween hay ride Saturday night. Athen got lots of candy most of which his daddy enjoyed! I will have to post pictures of Pebbles and Bam Bam as I do not have any on my camera...

Mom Moment...

I totally had a "mom moment" today.. When I am in the car I am constantly looking in my rear view mirror to see what "bug" (yeah, that's what we call him I don't know how the kid ever learned his real name...) is doing. Anyhoo, this AM I was drive and I looked back there and NO BUG! OH my heart sank for a split moment... only to realize that I has JUST dropped him off at daycare... lol I had myself a good laugh... =)

YEPPERS! Athen is OFF the bottle! Has been for a week now. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be... I think that's because I am going to have a BATTLE with getting him off the pacie... I am pretty sure I will wait a while for that one. That's about the only mile stone to comment on thus far... Oh he has a total of 5 teeth with one more coming in up top... The teething thing really hasn't been that bad either, what can I say, I am SO BLESSED with a wonderful child! (pretty sure that's called "divine intervention")

NINE months... (and 10 days)

"Better late than never..."

Athen is NINE months old now... he's check up went wonderful, dr. said that he was "perfect" which we already knew... good to have a medical opinion though. He has THREE teeth up top and still just the two on the bottom... He is pulling up and everything but still can't stand on his own... he can make it from one end of the house to the other in no time! He has learned what "no sir" means and is very good at leaving whatever at the time he is messing with along and moving on to something else. He is such a WONDERFUL baby!

The pictures below are ones nikki took (of course) I tired to put captions under them but was unsuccessful... the one with the shirt with "bud" on it was one I wore when I was little.... my granddaddy's nick name was bud I guess that's why its on there... my grandma saved it (she saves EVERYTHING) so now I have it for Athen...

Oh and the last picture was the end of the photo shoot... haha he was DONE!

ps... Kevin is STILL looking for a job, so if any one knows of anything....

Update...

Ok, yes, I know... I am a bad parent, well maybe not a "bad parent" but NOT a "good updater"

Anyhoo here's whats new.... (hey that rhymed!) Athen is all over the place now... Last night he crawled into the dishwasher... it was too cute and funny and of course my camera was DEAD! He can say "mama" and "bye bye" but not really with a purpose its just noise to him.... He as also discovery these things called baby mum-mum's heard of them? They are GREAT. Its rice rusks (hey that's what is says on the package) anyway we were in Wal-Mart one day and one of the demo ladies gave us some... they are great for him he can hold on to them and eat them I don't worry about him choking cause they pretty much melt in your mouth... He really enjoys them.

Also want to add that Kevin is DONE with school he is now officially a college graduate! I can't tell you how proud I am of him... My whole family is! He also passed his registry so he is now certified... (whatever that means, just know he had to pass - and he DID!)

Crawling...

Yeppers! The little man is crawling... he's still having so issues with it but he can sure do it... its too funny to watch... he gets up on his hands and knees and rocks and rocks and rocks some more then he will crawl oh about 3 feet and that's it... he's done. Its funny.
He is trying to pull up now too... he sleeps in his pack-n-play in our room... (I KNOW I KNOW, I have got to get him to his own room... well maybe when he turns 8 months, oh wait that in like two weeks....) anyhoo he was standing up in it so Kevin had to take out the bars that suspended it so now he laying in the bottom of it... Little man is going up too fast!
Lets see what else... oh he ate a vanilla wafer the other day, he liked it too! He is getting where he is more picky about what he will eat, I just don't know where he gets that from... lol!
I don't have any pictures to post... I know I am a bad parent... we got a new computer and I am not sure if all the camera stuff is hooked up yet or not... will check into that and then well I guess I would have to actually TAKE some pictures... need to work on that as well...

Six Months

Yes, I know that Athen was six months old like 3 weeks ago...

Anyhoo here is a few pictures from his six months old photo shoot... They are WONDERFUL, bet you can't guess who took them... =) And here is PROOF that he in fact does NOT look so much like Kevin and he DOES look a little like me, told ya!

Athen is still NOT crawling really doesn't seem to have a "big" interest in it... he is doing very well eating all these new foods... he likes REAL peas and grits... He seems to be doing very well at his new daycare... Things are great!

Six Month Check Up

Here are Athen's "stats" from his check up...
He weighs 17.8 lbs (he doesn't miss a meal!)
He is 27 3/4 inches long
and is healthy as a horse... He can start having even more baby food, as much as he would like... (which isn't all that much, he kinda gets bored with pears and bananas) we are fixing to mix it up though... tonight, MIXED VEGGIES! Humm Humm!

The MD told me the percentile stuff, but to be honest I have NO clue what that stuff means, so if any one else does... please let me know, I have no clue if he is an overachiever in that area as well... (am I SURE he is... =) )

Well that's about all... still not crawling... and only two teeth...
OH BIG NEWS! Athen will start his NEW private day care next Monday... WE are TOO EXCITED!

SIX Months Old...

Yeppers! Athen is SIX months old today! He is sitting up on his own now... well with a little help =) Athen is also eating foods now... I believe he may take after his daddy... so far the "sweet" ones are the only ones he likes... LOVES pears, LIKES bananas, and will eat apple sauce and sweet potatoes... but don't give him none of that sweet pea stuff... GROSS! I was hoping that Athen would be crawling my six months but looks like that is one milestone that he will hit at a later date... Anyhoo that's about it in the wonderful world of ATHEN. Happy Anniversary...

Kevin and I have been married FOUR years today... and who said it wouldn't last? =) Its been WONDERFUL! I can't wait to see what the next fourty have in store for us...

Lots to blog about...

Well this has been a busy week in my little Athen's life... On Friday the turned FIVE months old! He also got his first tooth then too. He is now working on a 2nd one... (and the doctor said he was too young to be teething... Athen is an overachiever!) He is getting closer and closer to crawling and sitting up... in another month he will be doing all kinds of things... He is starting to feed himself, he can get about 1/2 thru a bottle and then well you have to finish up. Here are some pictures a friend of ours took at their baby shower... (that's Kevin that is holding him...)

I know I SWORE I wouldn't let anyone see a picture of me this BIG, but I have learned that crow goes best with a diet coke...

Happy Baby...

I know I know I know.... its been a MONTH since I have blogged! Athen is keeping me busy! Lets see what's new... well Athen is a rollie-pollie-ollie! He is all over the place. Last night I was in the bed room and he was in the living room in the middle of the floor, next thing I knew Kevin was calling me in there to see that he was by the door... he can really get around. Ummm what else... well he's been sick. I have kept him out of day care this week (Thanks Grammie and Aunt Sherry for helping out!) Athen is trying to crawl... he will get that little butt in the air, really doesn't get anywhere but he's trying. I think he will be by six month. The picture is just a snap shot Kevin took of him... Oh, Athen got a new toy... he's really not all that sure about it yet... he likes it in small doses. He is immobile in it, so he doesn't care for that.














Well I am going to TRY and do better about the blogging... Promise!

BUMBO!!!

So I know I haven't blogged in a while... and I have also forgot to mention that Athen got a bumbo... now this is a GREAT concept... however, if you have a child that likes to pitch a fit and arch its back... this may not be the ideal thing for you... we have to be right with Athen when he is in his bumbo... but he likes to be in it and feel like he is a "big boy" but it doesn't last too long...

Oh, and last week Athen rolled over all by himself... he has only done it once and he really didn't know what he was doing... but we are trying to give him more and more floor time so he can be a quick study and be rolling all over the place....

I love that Athen is getting older and learning new things... our next mile stone that we (ME) are looking forward to the day that he can put his pacie in his mouth if it falls out... yep that will be a grand day! The other will be when I can throw him on my hip and GO!!...

Athen is getting VERY strong... and when ever he is sitting in something whether being car seat, bouncy seat... whatever he tries and sit up... he can hold himself up for a pretty good for a long time... so now we have to MAKE SURE we strap him in, right Grammie? =)

Well that should get everyone up to date in the Wonderful World of Athen... shots at the end of this month... no fun!

Also some news on the Athen front... he has learned to laugh, not sure if "learned" is the correct word, is laughing a learned behavior? Anyhoo, yep he can chuckle with the best of them... but only when Diezel is barking, don't ask me why... but that is the only thing we have found so far that gets him going that good... I am working HARD on getting it on video and then posting it on the web, so stayed tuned for that as well...

ps... Please keep my best Friend Tyler in your prayers, a good friend of his lost his father Friday. Please pray for Tyler and his friend.

THREE Months Old...

I am THREE months old today! I am such a big boy as you can see from all the things I am trying to do... Here is a picture of my and my daddy (who by the way has the most votes and "won" the Look-A-Like contest...) I am trying my hardest to sit up all by myself... but I am just not there yet give me another month or so... I will get it! Well going to let mommy blog now...

So Athen is three months old today. He has been at my parents since last Friday night... Kevin and I have been sick! But we are better now and just can't get over how much he can change in less than a week... yep pretty sure he won't be staying away that long again, we miss him so much! We are blessed to have Grammie and PaPa ready, willing, and able... Thanks Grammie and PaPa for taking such good care of the little man!

Kevin took some video tonight I am going to try and see how I can post it on here for those who don't get to see Athen as often as they my like (and for Aunt Sherry to get a "fix" to help her make it thru the day... =) ) If any one knows how you do it, I would love some direction....

What the overachiever he is!

Ok so I don't really think Athen really knows what he was doing... but hey he did it! Not even three months yet... I am going tomorrow to get him the handles to put on there....

(PLEASE don't look at his outfit! I am so embarrassed! I just put some pants on him when we got home so he could be "comfy")

Oh, btw, has any one ever used a Bumba? Anyone have one? I am trying to find Athen one... not one to be had in Valdosta...
