The News...

NO! I am NOT prego! BUT we did make an addition to our home....


drum roll..... DIEZEL IS BACK!!! I for one am SO excited! Being how Athen finds the "need" to be entertained, and we are NOT having any more children... seems like the PERFECT solution! ((stay tuned!))



Side Note: Bug has been sick running a fever since EARLY Friday Morning... its the ODDEST thing, he will be burning up ((102 temp)) and within minutes (REALLY) he is cool as a cucumber... its starting to worry me. OH and you know the kid is sick when he won't eat... in the past three days he has probably eaten the same amount as he would in one sitting, no joke! I am pumping the fluids though... I will be calling the doctor in the AM...

yeah yeah yeah, I know, its about time I put some pictures up... well I had to find my camera first...

Not much on chatting these days so here are some pictures, enjoy...

To fill you in...

Well Athen is doing so much better with is walking, and even a bit with his talking... he is starting to say a few things with a purpose now... "bye" "dada" "papa" and he will repeat somethings too. His little ear on the other hand...well lets just say now I know why kids with ear infections get upset... why? you may ask... cause I have seen FIRST hand of what comes OUT of the ear when they have an infection (the stuff that stays in and causes the infection) oh its gross... there is no other word for it but gross... its like snot-coming out of his ear....
So me being the "monkey mama" (that's what Sherry calls me cause I am always picking in Athens ears or nose or when he was a baby his head) that I am I am always cleaning it out.... so gross!

Anyhoo so we had our 15 month check up Friday and all was well... Athen is 4in shy of being THREE feet tall! Weighs 25lbs. He's a big boy...

Athen has also developed some kind of rash of some sort... we are still working on what that could be... he has VERY sensitive skin so it could be a number of things or really nothing...

Oh and one may ask... ok ok enough with all the info where's the pictures...???
Well Athen LOST my camera... I have NO idea where it is or what he done with it... the search is on, until then.... scroll down and look back at old pictures... he hasn't changed much =)

Didn't think it was possible...

If you thought it wasn't possible, it is... Bug is an even HAPPIER baby!!!! He has been running up and down the hall... still falling down but not as bad... he is also just a chatting up a storm! He don't make any sense but its nice to hear =)

and we're done...

its all of 9:00 am and we are back home for the hospital and all is well. Athen did great. He was such a big boy... He is sleeping now and Im sure he will for most of the day... Life should go back to "normal"

Update on Doctor's Appt...

Well..... TUBES! yeppers, Thursday early in the morning... Im not looking forward to it. But I have been assured that he will be just fine. Actually better than "fine" we will be doing a lot better with his walking and talking....
So I go Wednesday to Pre-Op and then at 6:00 am we will got to SGMC Out Patient and get us some tubes.... sounds fun, huh?
Please pray for Athen to have a save and full recovery... He's a trouper, I am sure he will do fine (if you don't mind, send up a pray for me too, I am sure I won't be doing fine =)

Doctor's Appt.

My little man has to go see Dr Allen bright and early Monday morning to get his little ears looked at... Looks like he may be getting tubes put in.... and oh boy am I NOT looking forword to any of it...

He has had a couple of bad ear infections, plus he is not walking very well - off balance. I thought at first that is was cause he was just learning to walk, well he's been walking since end of November and you would swear he had been a on 2 day drunk.... poor kid, he has fallen and hit his head so many times that is doesn't even phase him now... he just keeps on trucking...

Also, his speach (or lack there of) is not coming along as it should... he really doesn't say WORDS he just kinda makes noises... not good...

ANYHOO - Here are some picture of my "little" man he has started trying to feed himself - yeah, he needs to work on that =)

I will post after his doctor's appointment on Monday to let everyone know the game plan...

Yeppers, I caved. I gave in... the pacie is back! I know I know... but the poor thing has been sick and well to be honest I just don't have the strengh right now to battle both him and his daddy about it... so when his DADDY is ready for him to give it up then his DADDY will take it away...
You know, those things really are more for the parent than the child... Funny how Athen can go all day at Mrs Carolyn's (encluding one to two nap times) and not phased by it one bit...
oh well...
side note: Athen now has some sort of rash on his tummy and legs. We are not real sure what it is but I had a nurse look at it and she doesn't seem to think its anything to worry about...
I am keeping a close eye on it though!

Check up...

Athen went for a follow up appointment today for the doctor to check his ears. They had thought they may be infected when he went for his bout with salmonella. Doctor said not to treat it until we knew what we were dealing with... with all that said: double ear infections... who knew?

I have said it before, and I'll say it again: That Athen is an overachiever... MOST kids don't start either "What's that" phase until they hit the the twoish year mark... not my buggie... everything "whatsdat" and points... yeppers... that kid, he's a smart one..

Oh he can read too... he gets his books out and sits down and just reads away... (Thanks aunt sherry - yours are his favorite!)

Athen can also get up the stairs right by himself... he can get up then go to the door and open the screen door.... he's such a big boy!

Oh and almost forgot... Athen has not had his pacie yet to go to sleep... he has however; had his daddy hold him until he went to sleep... not sure which is worse... I can take the pacie away but my 100lb self can't take his daddy away...

How about Athen went to bed last night WITH OUT A PACIE!!!!
That is very Big news in our house!! Next mile stone... POTTY TRAINING (thankfully Mrs Carolyn - day care lady will handle most of that!) oh, and talking... we really have to work on that...
Oh wait and then there's the hitting thing... yeah, he's going to be a hitter! ("going to be" would be future tense) so I should say he IS a hitter... Pray for me (more so, pray for him!)

Well, test confirmed it. It was salmonella. Don't know where or how he got it. But since my man is such a good eater and is so healthy he really didn't even know he was sick... Athen is a STRONG baby. Teeth, don't bother him. Ear infections, don't bother him. A life threatening bacteria, don't bother him... lol - he's a trouper!
Love you bug, glad you are feeling better!

on a side note: please say a special prayer for the following babies... Baby Layla, Avey, and Ethen... God knows who these babies are and what their needs are.

Update...

Well we are on Day 4 1/2...? Of what should be our 5 day illness...
Athen seems to be doing fine. He had a bit of a ruff day today... I think we are still dealing with some teeth issues as well as this nasty bacteria... From talking with another mom (that is also a nurse) that little girl had this, we have reached all the milestones we should and we SHOULD be well on our way to recovery...
Thanks for the prayers, keep them coming... we are not done just yet...

Sick Baby...

**Warning not for the weak of stomach**
Well as most of you know, Athen has been sick since Tuesday... When I say "sick" I mean bad diapers... So he had one at day care, no big deal... and then when we went to church for our Gospel Meeting he had another "blow out" so bad that we couldn't stay. I had to come straight home and straight to the bath tub... Well I just thought it was his teeth he has a PILE coming in... Still, no biggie....
Well then Wednesday rolls around... By 9:00am Day care called, Athen had gone again, two more times in an hours time.... Mrs. Carolyn (that's the lady that takes such great care of my little man) she was a bit worried cause by now it was "watery" and had a terrible smell to it (note the warning above...) so off the doctor we went... Just me and Athen, thus far I have not had to take him on my own... he really isn't a sick baby so... here we go... Well come to find out the Doctor isn't there and its a new PA (not happy) so... she thought it was a virus or just could be from an ear infection that he seem to have (she wasn't so sure cause she really couldn't look that well in his ear cause his "stranger anxiety" kicked and he DID NOT like that lady and screamed!) so.... wrote a Rx and off we go... I didn't take him back to day care. Came home and this diapers only got worse! Oh the smell... the only way I know to descrip it (cause I know ya want me to) is... DEATH it smelled like Death...
Well... as the day went on and Huggies Stock rose, I noticed a little bit of blood in his diaper... alarmed I called Dr Debbie (aka my mom) we came to the conclusion that is was probably just from him going so much and no real cause for alarm...
Thursday morning came, we got up and got dressed... off to daycare and work, Made it 9:30! Phone rings, its Mrs. Carolyn, again... More blood and TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE AWFUL smell... Off I go... Got Athen and armed with my mom this time we go to the doctor... (oh I left the best part out, when I called the doctor to see what to do, they told me to bring the diaper with me... yeah!) After waiting at the doctor's office for what seemed like forever with a sick, tired, one year old... Doctor came in, we talked... she went off to test his diaper... sure enough - blood and a bit of it... enough for it not to be "normal" for just an upset tummy. That along with the HORRIBLE smell, she told us it was either.... salmonella or shigella. Both are similar bacteria’s...
We won't know for sure until Tuesday (Monday being a "holiday") so... if its salmonella, no treatment - run its course. If its shigella - treatment, antibiotic. At this point I should be freaking out... but for some reason I am rather calm... Odd cause in my mine I usually go to "worse case sanario" but I'm ok. I think he is going to be just fine. He acts fine. He is for the most part his happy self... He isn't eating as good as he usually does, but other than that and seems to sleep a little more... all is well...
So, with all that said - Please Pray that Athen will have a full recovery... WE don't like staying home! =)
I will keep everyone posted on how he is doing...

Another First...

New Years Eve we (Me, kevin, Athen, Jett, Nikki & Eric) decided we would go to Wild Adventures. I have been wanting to go so Buggie (aka athen) could see all the "wonderful" lights... BIG LET DOWN!!! I am sure that Athen didn't know, but I sure did. I was so disappointed. Good thing I had free tickets... However: I would had paid anything to see Athen and Jett have as much fun as the did on the rides!! Athen LOVED them. I even let him on one BY HIMSELF!! There was one that they won't let him on so I had to be the "bad guy" and hold him. He was so bad he was shaking! Poor thing...

My Favorite!

Here is my favorite picture to date that Nikki has taken of my little man... I love it so good I had it printed into a 8x10, framed it and put it in the living room - all in the same day that she emailed it to me... Now most may think this isn't a huge feat - well then you don't know me very well... cause that would make the SECOND framed picture in the house of Athen...

Well Athen is all over the place now! He is walking really well. He is even saying a few words ( note: FEW) he can say "huh?" "papa" and "baby"... and that's about all for now...

Athen had a wonderful Christmas with ALL his family - He's a lucky little boy to have SO many people that love him.

Athen's newest thing is when he gets "mad" (99% of the time that is when he hears "no sir!") the wrinkles up his nose and huffs and puffs... its hard not to laugh at him. And if he is really mad with you he will put his hand up and holler - yeah, we will be breaking that real quick like!

Big Boy!

Well Athen is the ONE YEAR OLD!!!! He had a lot of firsts on his FIRST birthday... He ate his first cupcake, he walked a good bit for the first time, and he got his first hair cut! He's such a BIG BOY! He can do all kinds of things... Walking is latest and greatest accomplishment... he's very proud of himself!

Athen got a 4wheeler for his birthday. (Guess who's idea that was!) he also got a real UGA recliner from Grammie and Papa... I will post pictures of those later...

oh, AND his now has a totally of EIGHT teeth!

Tomorrow we go for our year health check - I will post the stats.

Athen was Bam-Bam for Halloween. Our family had our annul Halloween hay ride Saturday night. Athen got lots of candy most of which his daddy enjoyed! I will have to post pictures of Pebbles and Bam Bam as I do not have any on my camera...

Mom Moment...

I totally had a "mom moment" today.. When I am in the car I am constantly looking in my rear view mirror to see what "bug" (yeah, that's what we call him I don't know how the kid ever learned his real name...) is doing. Anyhoo, this AM I was drive and I looked back there and NO BUG! OH my heart sank for a split moment... only to realize that I has JUST dropped him off at daycare... lol I had myself a good laugh... =)

YEPPERS! Athen is OFF the bottle! Has been for a week now. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be... I think that's because I am going to have a BATTLE with getting him off the pacie... I am pretty sure I will wait a while for that one. That's about the only mile stone to comment on thus far... Oh he has a total of 5 teeth with one more coming in up top... The teething thing really hasn't been that bad either, what can I say, I am SO BLESSED with a wonderful child! (pretty sure that's called "divine intervention")

NINE months... (and 10 days)

"Better late than never..."

Athen is NINE months old now... he's check up went wonderful, dr. said that he was "perfect" which we already knew... good to have a medical opinion though. He has THREE teeth up top and still just the two on the bottom... He is pulling up and everything but still can't stand on his own... he can make it from one end of the house to the other in no time! He has learned what "no sir" means and is very good at leaving whatever at the time he is messing with along and moving on to something else. He is such a WONDERFUL baby!

The pictures below are ones nikki took (of course) I tired to put captions under them but was unsuccessful... the one with the shirt with "bud" on it was one I wore when I was little.... my granddaddy's nick name was bud I guess that's why its on there... my grandma saved it (she saves EVERYTHING) so now I have it for Athen...

Oh and the last picture was the end of the photo shoot... haha he was DONE!

ps... Kevin is STILL looking for a job, so if any one knows of anything....

Update...

Ok, yes, I know... I am a bad parent, well maybe not a "bad parent" but NOT a "good updater"

Anyhoo here's whats new.... (hey that rhymed!) Athen is all over the place now... Last night he crawled into the dishwasher... it was too cute and funny and of course my camera was DEAD! He can say "mama" and "bye bye" but not really with a purpose its just noise to him.... He as also discovery these things called baby mum-mum's heard of them? They are GREAT. Its rice rusks (hey that's what is says on the package) anyway we were in Wal-Mart one day and one of the demo ladies gave us some... they are great for him he can hold on to them and eat them I don't worry about him choking cause they pretty much melt in your mouth... He really enjoys them.

Also want to add that Kevin is DONE with school he is now officially a college graduate! I can't tell you how proud I am of him... My whole family is! He also passed his registry so he is now certified... (whatever that means, just know he had to pass - and he DID!)

Crawling...

Yeppers! The little man is crawling... he's still having so issues with it but he can sure do it... its too funny to watch... he gets up on his hands and knees and rocks and rocks and rocks some more then he will crawl oh about 3 feet and that's it... he's done. Its funny.
He is trying to pull up now too... he sleeps in his pack-n-play in our room... (I KNOW I KNOW, I have got to get him to his own room... well maybe when he turns 8 months, oh wait that in like two weeks....) anyhoo he was standing up in it so Kevin had to take out the bars that suspended it so now he laying in the bottom of it... Little man is going up too fast!
Lets see what else... oh he ate a vanilla wafer the other day, he liked it too! He is getting where he is more picky about what he will eat, I just don't know where he gets that from... lol!
I don't have any pictures to post... I know I am a bad parent... we got a new computer and I am not sure if all the camera stuff is hooked up yet or not... will check into that and then well I guess I would have to actually TAKE some pictures... need to work on that as well...
